The name MAROTU is a stylised version of the Portuguese word maroto which means naughty.
MAROTU is an art project where new images are created by fusing body and sexual expression with works of art. The body becomes the canvas, bluring the line between obscenity and beauty. The depictions of bondage, aside their aesthetic value, are used to provide contrast to the serenity of the artwork itself and create a duality in the experience of the observer.
